Steps to Marriage

Book Your Chosen Celebrant

There is a distinct wedding 'season' in the warmer months, so it is wise to book your celebrant once you know the date of your wedding. You can phone me to check my availability or email me. Some couples go on recommendation, or have attended my weddings, while others like to meet 'obligation free' with a few celebrants before making their choice. This is something I am happy to offer. Click on Choosing Your Celebrant to find out what to look for.

Set a Meeting Date

Once you know we are a good 'fit', and you have confirmed your booking we can progress to completing the Notice of Intended Marriage. To secure you booking and to access the resource section of this website, a booking fee of $100 is then paid.

The Notice of Intended Marriage will need to be completed and received by me at least one month and one day prior to your wedding day (see Paperwork).

Creating the Ceremony Itself

Now we create your perfect ceremony! It may be small and stylish, casual and relaxed, or lavish with all the traditional elements. Every couple has their own ideas about their ultimate wedding ceremony, and together we will consider all the elements eg. participants, venue, outdoor vs. indoor, music, wording in vows, rings, and any other special requirements you may have. Through my website you will be able to access a range of online resources to support you through this process. This online 'Client Resources' portal contains tools for you to ‘put your own stamp’ on the ceremony so that it reflects your story and your values as a couple. I will collate your ideas, check that the ceremony meets the legal requirements, and together we will fine tune it to ensure it is perfect in content and tone.

Nearer to the Day

In the lead up to your wedding day, there will be ongoing of communication between us. Closer to the day, we will have a final office based 'rehearsal'* meeting to check that all paperwork is in order, and to go through the ceremony. The balance of payment is also due at this meeting.

*Onsite rehearsals attract a fee (refer to 'Fees and Packages')

Witnesses

Your wedding ceremony must be witnessed by two people over 18 years of age. They will be required to witness the ceremony and sign the certificates, and may be attendants, friends or family members. You must supply the FULL names of these two witnesses before the wedding day.

Your Wedding Day

I am available on my mobile phone on your wedding day. I will arrive at the venue at least 20 minutes beforehand (in accordance with the Code of Practice; link or download) to set up and liaise with the venue operators and those people who have a role in the ceremony (readings, music, witnesses etc.). You have nothing to worry about on your BIG day but to turn up and enjoy every moment.
